Jealous Fruits predicts progression of 2025 cherry season

As one of British Columbia’s largest sweet cherry growers, Jealous Fruits offers a timeline of how the 2025 season is likely to unfold. The first week of July, light volumes are expected focusing on niche varieties such as Kordia, Suite Note and Santina.

The main season harvest is expected to commence around July 15 and will continue through early September. The cherries are carefully handpicked at the peak of maturity, to ensure sweet crunchy fruit.

“We’re excited to share that this growing season is shaping up to be one of our best in recent years,” says Julie McLachlan, director of sales. “With consistently favourable weather during the critical cell division stage, our crops are developing beautifully and are all on track for high-quality fruit. After two challenging years, this season has brought a return to more typical growing conditions.”

The company expects substantial growth of 30 to 35 per cent in late season production. Established high-elevation orchards such as Cholla, Coldstream, Lavington and Eldorado have set especially nice crops. More recently acquired planted acreage, of more than 250 acres since 2019, including sites such as the Layer Cake orchard, are now approaching full production featuring the Regina and Sovereign varieties.
