Little Potato Company turns sod on new headquarters

The Little Potato Company and Leduc County representatives have celebrated the sod-turning on a 200,000 sq. ft.-plus packaging facility and head office. The family business is investing upwards of $25 million to expand production of its renowned creamer potatoes. The groundbreaking ceremony was held June 28.

“This is a significant step for The Little Potato Company, which my Dad and I founded together in Edmonton more than 25 years ago,” said Angela Santiago, CEO of The Little Potato Company. “With the incredible support of our community, we are honoured to continue to grow our business here and provide a fresh, nutritious food to families across North America.”

The state-of-the-art potato packaging facility in Leduc County will replace the current plant in Edmonton. The plant will offer a wider variety of products and utilize the latest technology to ensure the highest quality of potatoes. Construction is expected to be complete early next year, with operations scheduled to begin in May 2023.

We cover: today we are chatting with Keenan McVey of Blue Goose Farm in Ontario Canada. Keenan, along with his wife Ashley, run this small farm and along with it a really interesting, in-town Farm Store that is a little different from what you might think of as a farm store and has proved to be an invaluable marketing option for them. Keenan’s roots are in the culinary world, and the farm was also started with another chef from the area some of you may know, named Matty Matheson (of the excellent show The Bear). Keenan tells us that story as well as helps detail the technical stuff about how the gardens were created and how they are maintained.
