The Ontario corn harvest is nearly two-thirds complete but continues to lag well behind last year.
The latest field observations from the Grain Farmers of Ontario (GFO) on Thursday pegged the provincewide corn harvest at 63% done as of Wednesday. That’s up from less than half (49%) a week earlier but trails last year when many producers were already wrapped up for the year at this time.

November weather has been variable for Ontario farmers, with parts of the province getting another dump of heavy wet snow earlier this week.
According to GFO, corn yields have ranged from below- to above average, depending on the region and weather conditions experienced. Harvest moistures are higher than some years with corn coming off in the 24 to 40% moisture range.
The soybean harvest in the province is essentially now wrapped up, although a few fields are still out as growers wait for the ground to freeze first.
