PEDv Update

  • The Porcine deltacoronavirus (PDCoV) USA/IA/2014/8734 was sequenced for full-length genomic RNA to further characterize PDCoV in U.S. swine. http://www.aasv.org/news/story.php?id=7193
  • Utah State Veterinarian issues emergency order requiring all swine shows and exhibitions to be “terminal” effective May 5 and changes requirements for all swine entering the state. This makes the seventh state to announce similar CVI changes. A spreadsheet showing the updated requirements can be viewed on the AASV website. While we attempt to keep this spreadsheet updated, always verify the import requirements with the state animal health official before shipping pigs.
  • The EU toughens rules on the importation of pig’s blood for use in animal feeds. http://www.aasv.org/news/story.php?id=7197
  • The New Case Report was not available from NAHLN prior to publication of the e-Letter. It will be posted on the AASV website when received on Thursday.
