Prairie Oat Growers Association welcomes new co-president

The Prairie Oat Growers Association (POGA) has a new co-president.

Elwood White of Pangman, Sask., has been named to the role. He will be serving alongside current co-president Ambrely Ralph of Arborfield. This marks the first time in POGA’s history that both co-presidents hail from Saskatchewan.

“White brings significant experience representing oat producers and the Saskatchewan oat industry to the role, including his leadership as chair of SaskOats,” read an Aug. 26 news release.

“His experience and understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing oat growers will be an asset as POGA continues its work on behalf of producers across Western Canada.”

WHY IT MATTERS: The Prairie Oat Growers Association is a producer-led organization representing oat producers across the three Prairie provinces.

The announcement comes as Greg Bott of Eckville, Alta., steps down from the role. The change was part of a “planned executive transition.”
