QPP Changes Encourage Dairy Producers To Improve Quality

Dairy Farmers of Manitoba (DFM) is looking to make some changes to its Quota Participation Program (QPP).

The issue was discussed this week during the group's fall producer meetings.

"Depending on your milk quality, it will determine your ability to purchase quota for your farm," said DFM Chair David Wiens. "One of the things that comes with that is the idea that we want to see farms focus on continuous improvement and make that an even greater priority than simply an expansion."

Wiens hopes the changes will encourage dairy farmers to pursue excellence in addition to expansion.
