Statistics Canada to conduct Census Test

According to Statistics Canada, the 2024 Census Test will begin the following week.

The procedure involves testing the revised census questions and collection methods two years before the next census.

The Census of Population and the Census of Agriculture are scheduled to start collecting data on May 6, 2024, and end in late June. All information gathered will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and will not be shared with third parties or kept for later use.

According to the government website, out of the total sample, 89,000 households were randomly selected from Halifax, Montréal, Saskatoon, the Annapolis Valley area, the Rimouski area, and the Saskatoon area.

Statistics Canada enumerators will assist respondents in these communities with completing their mandatory census test questionnaire.

The remaining 108,700 households randomly selected from all ten provinces will be required to complete the census test questionnaires, but will not receive in-person follow-up visits from census enumerators.

The Census of Population and the Census of Agriculture are scheduled for 2026.
