Syngenta and Planet Renew Partnership to Deliver Near-Daily Satellite Imagery, Elevating Precision Agriculture Worldwide

Syngenta, a global leader in agricultural technology, has expanded its strategic partnership with Planet Labs PBC, the world’s largest commercial satellite imaging company, to provide farmers worldwide with near-daily, high-resolution satellite imagery.

This collaboration enhances Syngenta’s Cropwise digital platform by delivering 3-meter resolution images from Planet’s Dove satellite constellation, enabling farmers to remotely track crop health, detect pest outbreaks, and monitor diseases more effectively.

Satellite imagery has become a cornerstone of precision agriculture, offering timely insights across vast farmland.

The enhanced integration allows Syngenta Cropwise users to benefit from daily satellite captures—even in cloudy regions—empowering agronomists and producers with advanced agronomic tools like Variability Index, Productivity Zones, and Anomaly Detection.

Jeremy Groeteke, Syngenta’s Global Head of IT & Digital Strategy, emphasized the partnership’s impact: “This partnership will add a new dimension to Syngenta’s digital offering for customers. We will build on top of its already popular remote sensing product set providing key solutions like Variability Index, Productivity Zones, NemaDigital, and Anomaly Detection.”

Planet’s President and CFO, Ashley Johnson, echoed the excitement, highlighting the synergy between Planet’s satellite data capabilities and Syngenta’s ag-tech expertise, enabling novel applications and expanded research in precision farming.

The partnership also reinforces Syngenta’s commitment to data privacy and farmer empowerment. “We are building sophisticated AI and machine-learning algorithms to help farmers navigate complex challenges such as drought and pest infestations,” said Feroz Sheikh, Syngenta’s Chief Information and Digital Officer. “At the same time, we ensure farmers maintain control over their data.”

This collaboration marks a significant advancement in digitally driven agriculture, providing farmers and agronomists with the tools needed to boost productivity, efficiency, and sustainability across global farming operations.
