Telus Fibre-Optic Network Investment Set To Support Ag Tech

The $16 billion investment announced by Telus to expand its broadband network infrastructure in Alberta is set to give the agriculture sector a leg up.

Telus says the five-year investment will connect more homes, businesses and schools to its fibre-optic cable network, and give Albertans better access to health care technology and support agriculture technology.

Alberta Premier, Jason Kenney, says it's a game changer for the province.

"There will be a lot of farmers out there in their GPS guided combines getting better yields, getting better profits, feeding more people from around the world and growing our economy because of Telus tech."

Telus says the investment will also prepare the province for the introduction of 5G and fast track the latest technology applications as they emerge.
