Video: Single Pass Seedbed Tillage Demonstration.

The Outdoor Farm Show had field equipment demonstrations with the SPSP – Single Pass Seedbed Preparation tillage demonstration.

A total of 17 manufacturers lined up and showcased what their ideal one pass tillage solution is. The best seedbed comes with tillage according to Pat Lynch CCA   Lynch says, “Excessive tillage costs money, can reduce yield and increase erosion. This year COFS will demonstrate equipment to get the optimum seedbed with the least tillage.”

This demonstration included manufacturers like Lemken, Salford Farm Machinery Ltd. and Case IH.   . “The SPSP - Single Pass Seedbed Preparation demonstration is like an open-ended question that they can answer with whichever piece of equipment THEY feel is best.”

The full list includes Case IH; East-Can Equipment Sales /Vaderstad; Farm Fleet /Amazone; Great Plains; Gregoire-Besson; Horst Welding/MK Martin/Dal-Bo; Horst Welding/MK Martin/Strip Cat; John Deere; Kongskilde; Kverneland; Landoll; Leading Edge Equipment/AerWay; Lemken; Robert H. Laning & Sons/McFarlane; Salford Farm Machinery; Steqcan/TULIP Canada; and Walco Equipment.

Equipment worked wheat stubble that is seeded to an oat cover crop. Seed was donated by Hyland Seeds. According to Lynch there is huge movement to growing cover crops after winter wheat.

Video: Spring weed control in winter wheat with Broadway® Star (pyroxsulam + florasulam)

#CortevaTalks brings you a short update with Cereal Herbicides Category Manager, Alister McRobbie, on how to get the most out of Broadway® Star.

Significant populations of grassweeds, including ryegrass and brome, can threaten winter wheat yields. Spring applications of a contact graminicide, such as Broadway Star from Corteva Agriscience, can clear problem weeds, allowing crops to grow away in the spring.

Broadway Star (pyroxsulam + florasulam) controls ryegrass, sterile brome, wild oats and a range of broad-leaved weeds such as cleavers. It can be applied to winter wheat up until GS32, but the earlier the application is made, the smaller the weed, and the greater the benefit to the crop. Weeds should be actively growing. A good rule of thumb is that if your grass needs cutting, conditions are right to apply Broadway Star.
