You Are Invited to the Ontario Farmland Trust’s 20th Anniversary Party!

You are cordially invited to join OFT’s current and former staff, board members, donors, supporters and volunteers to celebrate our 20th anniversary of farmland protection!

OFT’s accomplishments could not have been realized without our community of supporters and advocates. We hope to celebrate this milestone with you as we continue to raise funds and resources to protect our vital food-producing landscapes.

Over the past 20 years, the Ontario Farmland Trust has been tirelessly working to safeguard Ontario’s precious farmlands and associated agricultural, natural, and cultural landscapes. Now, as we commemorate our 20th year, we’re not only celebrating our past accomplishments but also looking forward to the future with a renewed commitment to our mission. Our goal is to expand our impact even further by protecting an additional 10,000 acres of farmland by 2029, ensuring the sustainability of Ontario’s agricultural heritage for generations to come.

Our delicious dinner will be prepared by the talented Chef Phil DeWar. For Chef Phil DeWar, food is a vehicle for connecting people to local farmers, to their community, and to culture. Chef Phil’s culinary experiences and talents are rich and diverse. He runs a successful catering company, providing chef-inspired meals and tasting menus for both private and corporate events. Chef Phil is passionate about seasonality and about farm to table partnerships. He strives to source many of his ingredients, such as fresh produce and meats, from local farms in the Dufferin area, including Am Braigh Farm, Landman Gardens, Everdale Farm and GoodLot Farm.

Video: EP 73 Diversity is Resiliency – Stories of Regeneration Part 6

During the growing season of 2023 as summer turned into fall, the Rural Routes to Climate Solutions podcast and Regeneration Canada were on the final leg of the Stories of Regeneration tour. After covering most of the Prairies and most of central and eastern Canada in the summer, our months-long journey came to an end in Canada’s two most western provinces around harvest time.

This next phase of our journey brought us to Cawston, British Columbia, acclaimed as the Organic Farming Capital of Canada. At Snowy Mountain Farms, managed by Aaron Goddard and his family, you will find a 12-acre farm that boasts over 70 varieties of fruits such as cherries, apricots, peaches, plums, pears, apples, and quince. Aaron employs regenerative agriculture practices to cultivate and sustain living soils, which are essential for producing fruit that is not only delicious but also rich in nutrients.
