AFSC accepting nominations for Women in Ag Awards

The deadline to submit a nomination is Jan. 4

Agriculture Financial Services Corporation (AFSC) is searching for nominations to recognize up to seven women in Alberta’s ag sector.

Alberta’s ag community has until Jan. 4, 2024, to submit nominations for AFSC’s Women in Ag Awards.

“This award showcases the women who are making a difference in agriculture in Alberta and helping preserve, nurture and transform this ever-changing sector,” the award page says.

Women can be nominated in any of the following categories:

AFSC Women in Ag Employee Award
Highlighting exceptional contributions of AFSC team members to the advancement of women in agriculture.

The Promoter
Recognizing individuals advocating for a deeper understanding of agriculture through education, training, or outreach.

The Innovator
Celebrating those finding innovative solutions to challenges in agriculture, addressing economic, environmental and social issues.

The Community Builder
Honouring individuals who bring communities together, elevate the agriculture community, and contribute to sector growth.

The Emergent/Rising Star
Highlighting young leaders under 40 demonstrating passion for the agriculture industry, showing exceptional promise, and advocating for agriculture.

Professional Leader
Recognizing those with paid agricultural careers demonstrating life-long leadership or mentorship.

The Operator
Celebrating primary agriculture producers and agri-business owners supporting and empowering their peers.

The Notable Lifetime Achiever
Honouring individuals with life-long leadership and mentorship within the agriculture or agri-food industry.

The organization first presented these awards in 2022.

Winners that year included Luree Williamson, the CEO of Ag for Life, and Simone Demers-Collins, a professional home economist.

In 2023, award winners included Lynn Dargis, CEO of Farmbucks, and Margo Jarvis Redelback, a professional agrologist.
