Potash Continues Enhances Canada’s Reach

The Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) recently signed its 11th government-to-government (G2G) contract with the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC).

This long-standing collaboration focuses on the supply of high-quality Canadian potash from Canpotex, a major potash supplier. Over the years, Canpotex has provided over 4 million metric tons of potash to Bangladesh, supporting the country’s agricultural development.

Canadian potash plays a critical role in enhancing soil fertility and boosting crop yields. It helps replenish essential potassium levels in the soil, which is necessary for cultivating staple crops like rice and vegetables, key to Bangladesh’s food security. The high-quality potash ensures that the crops grown are not only abundant but also sustainable, fostering long-term agricultural resilience in the country.

CCC’s role goes beyond commercial trade. The G2G contracts, signed in the name of the Government of Canada, ensure that these agreements are honored and fulfilled, promoting international cooperation in agriculture. By facilitating these contracts, CCC helps strengthen bilateral ties and ensures a steady, reliable supply of potash to Bangladeshi farmers.

This 11th contract with BADC underlines Canada’s commitment to global food security. The continued partnership between CCC, Canpotex, and BADC enhances agricultural productivity in Bangladesh, supporting countless farming families. The successful collaboration also underscores Canada’s role as a leader in sustainable agricultural practices, reinforcing the country’s long-term contribution to global food resilience.

“Canada’s relationship with Bangladesh is rooted in cooperation and shared progress. As one of the world’s leading suppliers of potash, Canada is proud to support Bangladesh’s growing agricultural sector. Our collaboration with Canpotex and BADC plays a vital role in strengthening food security, boosting crop yields, and empowering farmers across the country. CCC’s 11th G2G contract with BADC not only reflects our economic ties, but our shared commitment to sustainable development and global food resilience,” said Kim Douglas, VP of Business Development and Marketing.

“Bangladesh is an important market for Canpotex, and we’re proud to continue our long-standing partnership with CCC and BADC to reliably supply Bangladesh with high-quality Canadian potash. This potash helps farmers in Bangladesh achieve better yields and improve the quality of their crops,” said Gordon McKenzie, President and Chief Executive Officer, Canpotex.

“It also impacts all those in Canada who are part of the supply chain for the overseas export of potash, including our shareholders’ mines, the railroads who ship our potash, and the port communities in Vancouver and Saint John where our vessels are loaded. We’re pleased to once again supply Bangladesh with the potash they need for food security,” said Gordon McKenzie, President and Chief Executive Officer, Canpotex.
