Collaboration improves measurement tools and boosts farmer access to incentives

CIBO Technologies and Nutrien announced a strategic collaboration to strengthen sustainable agriculture programs across the American Midwest. The partnership focused on improving how environmental and production outcomes are measured and reported while expanding farmer access to public and private incentives.

Through this collaboration, CIBO provided measurement, reporting, and verification services that supported Nutrien’s sustainability programs. These services helped farmers track key outcomes such as crop performance, nutrient use efficiency, greenhouse gas emissions, and soil health. The goal was to ensure results were accurate, reliable, and scalable across large farming regions.

"Our goal is to help farmers and their value chain partners increase land resilience while improving farmer ROI," said Sally Flis, Director, Sustainable Ag Programs at Nutrien. "Working with CIBO, we have a trusted provider with the systems and technology in place to accurately measure production and environmental outcomes at scale, and to account for and reward farmers for their sustainability efforts."

Nutrien already engaged more than 3.7 million acres worldwide in its sustainable agriculture programs, including hundreds of thousands of acres in the Midwest. These programs helped farmers improve input efficiency while delivering trusted results for supply chain partners with sustainability goals.

CIBO’s data and analytics platforms connect fragmented farm data and applied advanced modeling and artificial intelligence. This approach reduced reporting work for farmers while providing clear insights into long-term environmental and economic benefits.

The partnership also supported farmers seeking funding through federal conservation programs. Companies increasingly encouraged farmers to access support from the Environmental Quality Incentives Program and the Conservation Stewardship Program. For fiscal year 2025, CIBO supported a large share of applications nationwide, helping submit an estimated $300 million in EQIP requests.

By working together, Nutrien and CIBO helped combine public funding with private incentives. Nutrien’s retail agronomists and advisors assisted farmers in navigating conservation programs while aligning sustainability goals with real farm needs.

"Companies scaling regenerative agriculture need confidence that their investment delivers impact. CIBO is delighted to work with Nutrien as its trusted source for independent, accurate and reliable data," said Sunand Menon, Executive Chairman and CEO of CIBO Technologies.

“Our platform connects fragmented data, applies advanced modeling and AI, and delivers clear, actionable insights, so companies can understand what's working, scale proven practices, and drive real environmental and economic impact across acres, regions, and programs," said Menon.

The collaboration demonstrated how trusted data and technology could support regenerative agriculture, improve land resilience, and increase farmer returns while delivering measurable environmental progress.

Doing vaccinations when life happens. It is not always rosy working with cattle or any livestock. Including people and dogs, ha aha. But in the end, it all came together, even after pushing the 5 cattle that got out due to me not having the head gate closed properly... twice! Finn worked pretty good bringing them up, Munch would not stay out as you could hear. He is a bit too young and wants to be with his people all the time.
