Discover Opportunities in Agriculture from Home

Navigating the landscape of job opportunities in agriculture and food sectors across Canada has been made easier with  AgCareers.com’s innovative virtual career fairs.

Kicking off on October 23, 2024, the Feed Your Future Virtual Career Fair series serves as a bridge between top agri-food employers and potential candidates, enhancing recruitment strategies and opening doors for job seekers nationwide.

The upcoming virtual career fair season, running until March 2025, is an initiative designed to tackle the competitive job market by leveraging the convenience and reach of digital platforms.

“Through our mission of feeding the world with talent, we're committed to providing accessible digital recruitment and talent solutions,” explains Kathryn Doan, CVO Director of AgCareers.com.

The career fairs are a critical tool for recruitment, catering to a wide range of roles crucial to the industry, from on-farm positions to specialized jobs in labs and corporate offices, both on-site and remote.

AgCareers.com’s partnership with notable agriculture events, such as Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show and the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, highlights the fairs' significance and their role in supporting the agri-food sector's growth. These collaborations underscore the fairs’ importance as an inclusive platform facilitating vital connections across the industry.

The virtual format of the career fairs means that no matter where a person is located, they have the chance to explore and apply for various roles without the need for travel, saving both time and resources.

Employers benefit from access to a broader pool of candidates, ensuring they find the best fit for their needs without the limitations of geography.

As the season approaches, both seasoned professionals and those new to the field are encouraged to register for the Feed Your Future virtual career fairs.

Dicamba Returns for Georgia Farmers: What the New EPA Ruling Means for Cotton Growers

Video: Dicamba Returns for Georgia Farmers: What the New EPA Ruling Means for Cotton Growers

After being unavailable in 2024 due to registration issues, dicamba products are returning for Georgia farmers this growing season — but under strict new conditions.

In this report from Tifton, Extension Weed Specialist Stanley Culpepper explains the updated EPA ruling, including new application limits, mandatory training requirements, and the need for a restricted use pesticide license. Among the key changes: a cap of two ½-pound applications per year and the required use of an approved volatility reduction agent with every application.

For Georgia cotton producers, the ruling is significant. According to Taylor Sills with the Georgia Cotton Commission, the vast majority of cotton planted in the state carries the dicamba-tolerant trait — meaning farmers had been paying for technology they couldn’t use.

While environmental groups have expressed concerns over spray drift, Georgia growers have reduced off-target pesticide movement by more than 91% over the past decade. Still, this two-year registration period will come with increased scrutiny, making stewardship and compliance more important than ever.
