National fundraiser supports wetlands while offering outdoor prizes
Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) has launched its 2026 Hooked on Habitat campaign, a nationwide fundraising initiative designed to support wetland conservation while engaging anglers and outdoor enthusiasts across the country.
We know many farmers across Canada enjoy the outdoors and enjoy fishing, and so we thought we would share the information.
The campaign features a 12-week sweepstakes that allows Canadians to contribute to conservation efforts while having a chance to win valuable prizes. Tickets can be purchased online for as little as $10, making the campaign accessible to a wide range of participants.
“At Ducks Unlimited Canada, we know that great fishing starts with healthy wetlands,” said Janine Massey, DUC Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. “Our Hooked on Habitat campaign connects Canadians’ passion for the outdoors with real conservation outcomes that help the waters, fish populations and habitats that so many people rely on for angling and numerous other activities.”
According to DUC, wetlands play a vital role in maintaining healthy fisheries and supporting wildlife habitats. These natural ecosystems help filter water, provide breeding and nursery areas for fish, and support food sources that sustain aquatic life. However, wetlands continue to face challenges from habitat loss and environmental pressures.
The Hooked-on Habitat campaign aims to increase awareness of the importance of wetlands while encouraging public participation in conservation efforts. Funds raised through the initiative will help support projects that protect and restore these important landscapes across Canada.
Participants will have opportunities to win weekly early-bird prizes throughout the campaign. These prizes include premium fishing gear, outdoor equipment, and apparel. The campaign will conclude with major grand prize draws in September.
Among the top prizes are a four-day fly-in fishing adventure at Plummer’s Arctic Lodges and a 2026 TRACKER Grizzly 1650 T Prairie Wings Edition boat package that includes a motor and trailer.
The campaign builds on the success of its inaugural year, which attracted thousands of participants and raised significant funding for conservation programs. Organizers hope the 2026 campaign will continue to connect Canadians with nature while highlighting the benefits of wetland protection.
Through this initiative, DUC seeks to demonstrate how conservation efforts contribute to healthier ecosystems, stronger fisheries, and improved outdoor recreation opportunities. By supporting wetlands today, Canadians can help ensure these valuable natural resources remain available for future generations.
