EPA creates agriculture-focused office

By Farms.com

The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) has warmly received the news of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) decision to form the Office of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. This development is celebrated as a testament to the EPA’s commitment to understanding and supporting the agricultural community's unique needs and challenges.

AFBF President Zippy Duvall emphasized the significance of this initiative, recognizing it as an opportunity for meaningful engagement between farmers, ranchers, and environmental policymakers.

Under the leadership of Rod Snyder, the new office is tasked with ensuring that the agricultural community’s perspectives are integrated into the EPA’s environmental efforts. This approach aims to create a more inclusive and effective strategy for preserving the nation’s natural resources, acknowledging the essential role that agriculture plays in this endeavor.

The establishment of the Office of Agriculture and Rural Affairs represents a forward-thinking approach to environmental management, one that values the input and cooperation of those who work the land. It promises to build stronger relationships between the EPA and rural communities, facilitating a shared commitment to sustainable agricultural practices and environmental conservation.

The AFBF’s support for this initiative reflects the broader agricultural community’s desire for a collaborative relationship with environmental regulators. With Snyder at the helm, there is optimism that this office will lead to policies that are not only beneficial for the environment but also viable for the agricultural industry. This collaborative effort is a step towards ensuring that environmental stewardship and agricultural productivity go hand in hand, benefiting all stakeholders involved.

Welcome to Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show AgTech Breakfast. This annual Ontario outdoor farm show has always been a place where innovation thrives.

The AgTech Breakfast takes place every September to create a space where farmers and representatives from startup companies can meet and discuss innovations that bring new options to the agriculture industry. This is a great opportunity for attendees of this event to see what’s new.

At the AgTech Breakfast, attendees hear from a panel of companies, followed by a casual discussion session where farmers and representatives from startup companies can discuss new technology related to farming and share opportunities and challenges that impact Canadian agriculture.

One company featured at the 2024 AgTech Breakfast at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show was VETSon. This company connects producers and veterinarians for one-on-one consultations through online and app technology to improve options for livestock management.
