$100K Prize Awaits Top Ag Innovator In 2026 Competition

The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) has extended the application deadline for its 2026 Ag Innovation Challenge to June 15. This gives startups more time to apply for a chance at $145,000 in total awards.

This nationwide competition is designed to support ag entrepreneurs developing innovative business solutions to real-world challenges in farming and rural life.

In its 12th year, the contest offers a $100,000 grand prize, $25,000 for the runner-up, and $10,000 for two other finalists.

“This competition supports incredible entrepreneurs who are making sure agriculture is ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow,” said AFBF President Zippy Duvall.

After the June 15 deadline, ten semifinalists will be selected and announced by August 4. These semifinalists will compete virtually, and four finalists will be invited to pitch their ideas at the AFBF Annual Convention in January 2026, to be held in Anaheim, California.

Winners from previous years include Barn Owl Precision Agriculture and Gripp, both of which developed tools that support farmers in planting, weed control, and communication.

To qualify as a top 10 semi-finalist, applicants must be members of a local Farm Bureau. Those not yet members can join by visiting the Farm Bureau’s official website.

The competition is supported by Farm Credit, Bayer Crop Science, John Deere, Farm Bureau Bank, Farm Bureau Financial Services, and T-Mobile.

Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. EDT on June 15.
