Newly released data from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency confirms high compliance rates across commodities, as well as domestic and imported food products.

The results, drawn from multiple national monitoring programs, highlight the effectiveness of Canada’s science-based regulatory framework in protecting public health and supporting trade.

The National Chemical Residue Monitoring Program Annual Report for 2022-23 indicates CFIA conducted more than 110,000 tests on approximately 15,500 samples, analyzing products such as dairy, fruits and vegetables, honey, eggs, meat, maple products, and seafood.

These tests screened for potential hazards including veterinary drug residues, pesticides, heavy metals, mycotoxins, and other contaminants.

Results showed that 97.5 percent of samples were compliant with Canadian safety standards.
