The U.S Department of Agriculture has announced the recall of 4,000 pounds of soup products manufactured at Blount Fine Foods in Fall River, Massachusetts and sold under the Wegmans Food Markets label. The soup products in question have been recalled after consumers reported finding bits of plastic in the soups.

The following products using the “Wegmans Food Markets” label are being recalled:

•    16 oz. cups of Gazpacho Soup with a ‘‘use by’’ date of September 2.
•    16 oz. cups of Chicken and Dumpling Soup with a ‘‘use by’’ date of August 24.
•    16 oz. cups of Italian Wedding Style Soup with Meatballs, Tomato Basil with Orzo, Caribbean Black Bean and Lobster Bisque, all with a ‘‘use by’’ date of September 3.

The recalled soup products have been sold at Wegmans supermarkets in Maryland, Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

While no injuries have been reported in association with the plastic contamination of the soup products, consumers are urged to check their cupboards for the recalled products listed with attention on the “use by” date as described above.
