Food Recall: Johnsonville Turkey Sausage with Cheddar Cheese

Nearly 49,000 Pounds of Johnsonville Sausage Recalled August 16 2012

Wisconsin-based Johnsonville Sausage is recalling 48,907 pounds of turkey sausage with cheddar cheese due to potential contamination of foreign materials, including pieces of gloves. The sausage product being recalled by the company is Select 13.5_oz vacuum packed “Turkey Sausage with Cheddar Cheese” with a “best by” date of August 20, 2012 and the establishment number P-34224.

The sausage product in question was distributed in Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, New York, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.

No injuries or illnesses have been reported in association with the recalled sausage and according to the company no other Johnsonville products or flavors are affected.

The Food Safety and Inspection Service of the U.S Department of Agriculture is currently working with the company to help facilitate the recall and collect more information.
