Its primary elevator license is no longer held

A company in Saskatoon, Sask. has undergone a Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) license change.

As of Dec.17, Grain Millers Canada Corp. no longer holds a primary elevator license.

This type of license goes to “an operator of an elevator which primary receives grain directly from producers, for either both storage or forwarding,” the CGC says.

The elevator in Saskatoon has a capacity of 7,570 tonnes.

The license change comes as result of construction of a new flax processing facility in Delisle, a Grain Millers spokesperson confirmed to Farms.com.

But it is the second license change Grain Millers Canada Corp. underwent in 2024.

In April, a grain dealer license was not renewed.

Grain Millers Canada Corp., however, retained its other licenses in Canada.

The company has a primary elevator in Rycroft, Alta., with a 4,070-tonne capacity. And a process elevator in Yorkton, Sask., that can hold 36,252 tonnes, for a total of 47,892 tonnes between the three locations.

Grain Millers started in Oregon in 1986 and has locations in Indiana, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.

It handles oats, barley, wheat, flax, corn, rye and other products.

The organization is the world’s largest organic oat processor and produces about a quarter of all the oats in North America, its website says
