Huron County Wins Bid to Host 2017 IPM

International Plowing Match Coming to Huron County in 2017

By , Farms.com

Plowmen from across Ontario gathered in Stratford over the weekend for the annual Ontario Plowmen’s Association (OPA) convention. One of the big items on the agenda was the bid to host the 2017 International Plowing Match (IPM). Huron County was chosen as the host county for the 2017 match - a significant year, as it marks 150 year’s of Canada’s Confederation. The last time Huron County hosted the IPM was in 1999.

Perth County is set to host this year’s IPM, which will mark the 100th anniversary of the first plowing match. More information can be found at IPM 2013 website.

Video: Spring weed control in winter wheat with Broadway® Star (pyroxsulam + florasulam)

#CortevaTalks brings you a short update with Cereal Herbicides Category Manager, Alister McRobbie, on how to get the most out of Broadway® Star.

Significant populations of grassweeds, including ryegrass and brome, can threaten winter wheat yields. Spring applications of a contact graminicide, such as Broadway Star from Corteva Agriscience, can clear problem weeds, allowing crops to grow away in the spring.

Broadway Star (pyroxsulam + florasulam) controls ryegrass, sterile brome, wild oats and a range of broad-leaved weeds such as cleavers. It can be applied to winter wheat up until GS32, but the earlier the application is made, the smaller the weed, and the greater the benefit to the crop. Weeds should be actively growing. A good rule of thumb is that if your grass needs cutting, conditions are right to apply Broadway Star.
