Apply by October 17 to Qualify for Upcoming Conservation Programs
Farmers and landowners in New Jersey can now apply for financial and technical support through three major conservation programs offered by the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).
Applications for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), Agricultural Management Assistance (AMA), and Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) are open for the 2026 funding year.
While applications are accepted throughout the year, those submitted by October 17, 2025, will be reviewed in the upcoming selection cycle.
The EQIP program assists farmers in tackling challenges such as water quality issues, soil erosion, and wildlife habitat improvement.
Special focus areas include the Working Lands for Wildlife initiative, the National Water Quality Initiative, and the Pine Barrens Restoration Partnership. Forest owners can verify eligibility online using the Pinelands Commission Interactive Map.
The AMA program is designed to assist new and limited resource farmers, as well as small farm owners, with voluntary financial and technical help. The goal is to improve water management, protect water quality, and control erosion on their land.
The CSP offers ongoing support to producers committed to enhancing conservation on working lands. It helps with soil, water, and air quality improvement while boosting crop yields, wildlife presence, and resilience against adverse weather.
“NRCS offers farmers and landowners valuable assistance to address critical resource concerns through these programs,” said an NRCS representative.
Applications can be submitted through local USDA Service Centers or online at nrcs.usda.gov. Applications received after the ranking date will be held for future consideration.
These programs help protect natural resources while supporting farm operations, providing an opportunity for producers to invest in long-term land health and sustainability.
