Fortinos Partners With Ontario Pork in Store Sampling

Ontario Pork has teamed up with Fortinos Supermarkets to bring a special treat for customers across Ontario this BBQ season. Shoppers visiting any of the 24 Fortinos stores in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) can enjoy free samples of delicious Ontario-raised pork every weekend until August 31.

This initiative aims to promote the high quality of pork raised by Ontario farmers and offers a direct connection with consumers. “We are excited to partner with Fortinos to showcase pork raised right here in Ontario,” said Tara Terpstra, Ontario Pork Board Chair. “It is a delicious, high-quality protein that is easy to cook and enjoy at home.”

The events are designed to help consumers better understand the farm-to-table journey of their food. “Fortinos is a leading grocery retailer with some of the busiest stores in the GTA, and they’ve shown strong support for sourcing locally raised food” said Brett Leslie, Digital Lead at Ontario Pork. “These outdoor events are a great way to celebrate local food, grill up Ontario-raised pork, and have face-to-face conversations with shoppers.”

Customers will have the chance to taste Fortinos Signature Mild Italian Sausage and Sweet Stinger Sausage—both crafted with 100 percent Ontario pork. The tastings not only allow people to try new flavors but also give them an opportunity to learn how pork is raised and cooked for the best taste.

“Fortinos is committed to offering great food, fair prices, and outstanding service,” said Nick Chirichella, Director of Meat Merchandising at Fortinos. “We’re proud to use pork raised by Ontario farmers because we know it’s fresh, high-quality, and supports the local economy.”

Adding to this summer initiative, Fortinos has introduced a new label featuring the Ontario Pork checkmark logo. This helps customers easily identify and choose pork products that come from local farms.
