Agricultural Leaders Gather for Women Farmer Summit in Washington, D.C.
Nearly 500 agricultural advocates from the United States and several other countries gathered in Washington, D.C., June 1-3, 2026, for the International Year of the Woman Farmer ACE (Advocate, Cultivate, Empower) Summit, organized by the AFBF’s (American Farm Bureau Federation’s Women) Leadership program.
The event celebrated the important role women play in farming and ranching while encouraging leadership and advocacy across the agricultural sector.
Throughout the three-day summit, participants attended educational sessions and networking events designed to strengthen leadership skills and expand opportunities for women in agriculture.
Industry leaders discussed the global campaign that led to the United Nations recognizing 2026 as the International Year of the Woman Farmer.
Panelists also highlighted the need to recognize women’s contributions by supporting research such as the AFBF Women in Agriculture Study, which explores the many responsibilities women hold in the industry and identifies ways to better support them.
AFBF President Zippy Duvall encouraged attendees to share their personal agricultural experiences and continue serving as advocates for farming communities.
A global discussion featured women leaders from several countries who shared programs and initiatives that have helped advance female participation in agriculture.
Speakers emphasized that social media, collaboration, and peer support have strengthened women’s voices across the industry.
The summit concluded with Capitol Hill visits and industry tours that allowed participants to engage with policymakers and agricultural organizations.
The event reinforced the vital role women play in producing food, fiber, and fuel while inspiring future generations of agricultural leaders worldwide.
