By Jenna Falor

Michigan State University Extension and your local field crops educators will be hosting a Soybean Variety Trial Field Day at the MSU Soybean Variety Trial Plot in Sanilac County on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023. Mike Staton, MSU Extension soybean educator, will speak about white mold in soybeans. Randy Laurenz, MSU soybean variety trial coordinator, and Dechun Wang, MSU soybean breeder, will do a plot walk-through discussing what they are seeing in the trial. The field day will run from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and a light lunch will be included.

This plot provides much to see. There are over 100 commercial varieties from several companies entered and promising lines from MSU are also available to view. The relative maturity of beans in the plot spans from 1.1 to 3.1 and includes conventional, glyphosate resistant, Enlist E3, Extend Flex and GT27/LL varieties.

The plot is hosted by Rick Gerstenberger and is located approximately 5 miles north of Sandusky, Michigan, on the northwest corner of Sandusky Road and Nicol Road (view map). Please park along Nicol Road.
