You didn’t think that field events were done for the year, did you? Of course not! The Carrington REC hosts events regarding our crops (and cows) whenever we can. If we’re looking at it, we want YOU to have the opportunity to see what we do, too.
This week’s excitement includes our annual Row Crop Tour, Thursday, August 20. We know that small grains look great in July when we host our annual Field Day, but row crops are at their peak in late August. Come and see. We are proud of our consistent, unbiased, world-class agriculture research. We ask our farmers for input on topics, and then we put emerging technology to work to improve your options and to combat emerging issues.
We’ll start at 8:30 a.m. with registration and refreshments. No pre-registration required, but you’ll want a moment to get settled, grab a snack and a coffee or water for the trail.
Wagons leave the yard at 9:00 a.m. Leave the driving to us, but if you need to arrive a little later, we’ll have shuttle service available or you can look for the bright yellow canopies on our trailers.
Our presenters this year include:
- Febina Mathew and Rex Sun. Harnessing multispectral and hyperspectral imaging to detect soybean diseases like Sudden Death Syndrome earlier than traditional eyeball scouting sees a threat.
- Juan Osorno. Catch the latest from NDSU’s dry bean breeding program. Compare varieties and make selections that fit your operation.
- Ana Carcedo. Exploring soybean varieties and making selections that combat phytophthora root rot, iron deficiency chlorosis, and soybean cyst nematode issues.
