Alberta farmers have the opportunity to develop farm safety plans at workshops across the province, including in Red Deer and Olds.
Alberta Agriculture and Rural Developmentis looking for feedback on its new Alberta FarmSafe Plan, which provides a step-by-step process for putting together a farm health and safety plan.
"Farmers who are interested in completing a safety plan for their farm and who are willing to provide feedback on the program are needed for the upcoming pilot project," said Laurel Aitken, farm safety coordinator with Alberta Agriculture. "Representation from all sectors of agriculture and all sizes of farm operations is needed."
At the workshops, farmers will learn how to identify hazards and control or eliminate them, said Aitken.
Those who volunteer to take part in the Alberta FarmSafe Plan program will receive two days of instruction, followed by one-on-one farm visits, e-mails or phone calls.
