Vive Crop Protection's new hybrid insecticide pairs bifenthrin with a biological active ingredient for enhanced soil pest management.
Vive Crop Protection announced that Bifender Duo has received federal registration from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), introducing a hybrid soil insecticide designed to provide growers with insect and nematode protection through one application.
The new product combines bifenthrin, a well-established synthetic insecticide, with a biological active ingredient developed and manufactured by ProFarm. The combination provides two distinct modes of action targeting soil insects while also delivering nematocidal activity.
"Bifender Duo gives growers something they've been asking for: broad, reliable protection against soil insects and nematodes in a single product," said Marie Yeager, Senior Product Manager for Bifender Duo at Vive Crop Protection.
"Pairing a proven synthetic like bifenthrin with a new biological mode of action means growers get the performance they already trust, plus an added layer of protection they haven't had before," Yeager added.
The biological component was registered by the EPA as a new active ingredient in 2025. Vive worked with ProFarm to develop Bifender Duo, including adjustments to the formulation using Vive's Precision Chemistry Technology. The formulation was further refined to support commercial-scale manufacturing.

"Giving growers two distinct modes of action against soil insects and nematodes in one easy-to-use application is exactly the kind of value we set out to deliver to our customers," Dr. Baumann added.
Following federal registration, Vive is seeking state-level approvals for Bifender Duo. The company expects key state registrations to be completed by February 1, 2027.
