Bin winning a theme around the province

Classic Hits Radio welcomed farmers from around West Central Saskatchewan and Alberta to their Farmer Appreciation this week.

Farmers entered for a chance to win a Meridian GM 3000 grain bin.

Gerald Bayda of Eston was the big winner there.

"Wow that is really special," he said. "That's great. You can always use a hopper bin. I never expected to win. I always go and enter, but I never expected to win. That's super."

Now like every other farmer in the prairies they are hoping for good growing conditions and a great harvest.

The annual Win The Bin contest went down at Kinetic Park yesterday as part of a farmer appreciation lunch, and Dustin Sletten of Hazlet left fed, watered, and with a lot more room to store fertilizer.

"For fertilizer for sure," Sletten said. "It'll make it a lot handier at seeding, a little more fertilizer on hand at once."

Sletten farms with his father, uncle, and brother - and Sletten was a common name yesterday as Justine Sletten played some country tunes for the crowd on hand.
