Both major railways struggling with grain deliveries: Ag Transport Coalition

The Ag Transport Coalition reports week 30 saw little improvement in system performance, with CN and CPKC Rail combined, supplying 66% of hopper cars ordered, modestly higher than the 65% performance seen in week 29.

System performance remains below the 90% performance threshold for a sixth straight week and below the 80% threshold for a fifth consecutive week.

In supplying 76% of cars ordered by shippers in week 30, CN saw performance decline notably from the 86% order fulfillment performance seen in week 29.

CN performance remains below the 90% threshold for a sixth straight week and for the seventh time in the last eight weeks.

Meanwhile, in supplying 54% of shipper orders, CPKC saw performance improve slightly from the 49% order fulfillment performance seen in week 29, putting an end to a significant four week decline in performance.

CPKC performance remains below the 90% performance threshold for a fifth consecutive week, and below the 80% threshold for a fourth straight week.
