CFO Presents a Cheque for $10,000 to Feed Ontario

TORONTO, ON – Chicken Farmers of Ontario (CFO) presented a cheque to Feed Ontario at the Daily Bread Food Bank as part of Corus Entertainment and Global News’ April Foods Day campaign to raise funds for Ontario’s food bank network.

Chicken Farmers of Ontario Chair, Murray Opsteen, joined Rachel Dixon, Director of Development at Feed Ontario, live to make the presentation. “Chicken farmers are proud members of their community and giving back and supporting our neighbours is in our nature,” said Murray Opsteen, Chair of Chicken Farmers of Ontario. “On behalf of Chicken Farmers of Ontario and our 1,300 family-run farms across the province, I am pleased to present this cheque of $10,000 to Feed Ontario to help support Ontario’s food bank network.”

The donation was made as part of CFO’s food bank donation program called CFO Cares: Farmers to Food Banks. The program enables chicken farmers to donate locally-grown chicken to food banks across the province. In 2021 alone, the program provided over 1.5 million meals of chicken to people in need.

“The CFO Cares: Farmers to Food Banks program is placing chicken that is both locally sourced and healthy in the hands of those who need it most," said Denise Hockaday, CEO of Chicken Farmers of Ontario. “At CFO, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we live and work. Each day, we hope to make a difference for those who need support by continuing to strive to reach our promise of ensuring all Ontarians have access to safe, healthy, locally-grown chicken.”
