Construction at G3's new facilities are on track

Work continues on G3's new state-of-the-art grain terminals at Melfort (Saskatchewan) and Rycroft (Alberta).

Corporate Communications Specialist Peter Chura says the grain facilities will be similar to their other sites on the Prairies.

The facilities will have a capacity of 42,000 tonnes, with a loop track design that allows the train to come right in off the mainline and keep it moving around the track.

"It gets loaded in continuous motion, and on its way, right away to G3 Terminal Vancouver on the west coast. So that's really speeding up the flow of grain to market, which opens up more delivery opportunities."

G3 expects to have both facilities ready for the harvest of 2023.

Chura says the new Melfort and Rycroft locations are in addition to the 17 other facilities in G3's prairie grain network.

"We also have just in 2020 opened a big brand new state-of-the-art grain export facility in Vancouver, G3 terminal Vancouver and it has been going gangbusters there. Breaking records for unloading trains quickly, loading ships quickly and keeping the grain moving to market. "
