Industry leader honored for lifelong service to dairy and Holstein industry

Corey Geiger from Omro, Wisconsin, has been selected to receive the 2026 Distinguished Leadership Award by the Holstein Association USA. This award honors individuals who have shown long-term dedication and leadership in improving the dairy industry. He will be officially recognized during the National Holstein Convention in Orlando, Florida, on June 24, 2026.

“It's humbling to be recognized, because as I stand and look at some of the past winners, I see past leaders of this association, people that I looked up to as a young person, and to be considered in that group is pretty special,” said Corey. “To be recognized by your peers for the work you do means everything.”

Geiger’s journey in agriculture began on his family’s dairy farm in Wisconsin, where he grew up as a sixth-generation farmer. His early exposure to farming built his interest in Holstein cattle and the dairy sector. He later graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison and developed a career in journalism and agricultural economics.

He spent 28 years working with Hoard’s Dairyman, where he held important editorial roles, including managing editor. Currently, he works as the lead dairy economist for CoBank, providing insights into dairy markets, genetics, and agricultural trends. His knowledge has made him a respected voice in the industry.

Geiger is globally recognized and has shared his expertise through speaking engagements across 40 states and internationally. His work connects different parts of the dairy sector, including farming, milk processing, and market development.

Throughout his career, he has remained active in Holstein organizations. He served as President of Holstein Association USA from 2019 to 2022 and has also held roles such as Vice President and Director. His contributions extend to several organizations, including the Holstein Foundation, National Dairy Shrine, World Dairy Expo, and the Council on Dairy Cattle Breeding.

In addition, Geiger has contributed to education and knowledge sharing by co-editing a major dairy publication and authoring two books inspired by his family history. His work continues to support learning and growth in agriculture.
