Cost of Production Workshop Offered for Dairy Farmers

Calculating the cost of production helps farmers assess the financial health of their farm. It can highlight problem areas and enable them to make better management, marketing and buying decisions as well as plan for the future.

On January 24, University of Vermont Extension and the Northeast Dairy Business Innovation Center are hosting a free workshop for dairy farmers. It will be held at the People’s Trust Company, 1 Franklin Park West, St. Albans City, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Cost of Production Workshop will be led by Joanna Lidback, principal financial consultant with Adirondack Management Services and the CFO at Adirondack Farms LLC, a large Holstein operation, both in Peru, New York. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in helping dairy farmers understand farm financials and improve farm viability.

Registration is required at https://go.uvm.edu/dairyfinancial for this free event, with lunch provided. The deadline to register is January 22. In the case of inclement weather, this event will be rescheduled to January 31.
