Deadline Approaching: THRIVE Canada Accelerator Program

Thrive Canada

My name is Evan Cohen and I am the Accelerator Manager at THRIVE, the #1 global AgriFood tech accelerator and most active Agtech investor in the world. As you may have heard, we recently launched our open call for early-stage AgriFood tech startups to apply to our inaugural THRIVE Canada Accelerator Program with applications will be closing on November 5th. I would appreciate if you could share this information with all startups in your network so they have the opportunity to apply.

The THRIVE Canada program is an incredible opportunity for selected companies to receive an initial $75k investment, access to our extensive corporate partner and investor network, access to growers and producers, a seed camp in Silicon Valley, mentorship, and workshops led by industry experts. The program culminates at Calgary Stampede where cohort companies present on a global stage and compete for up to $250k in follow-on investment.

We are looking for early-stage AgriFood tech companies from all areas of the value chain whose technologies drive us towards a more efficient, sustainable, and secure agricultural future. Companies should be Seed to Series A with technologies focused in the following areas:

  • Farm Management Software, Sensing, and IOT
  • Big Data & Predictive Analytics
  • Animal Health & Livestock
  • Indoor Farming

Video: What Does 20 MILLION Hogs a Year Look Like?

?? The Multi-Plant System Processing 20 Million Hogs Annually in the Midwest JBS USA operates multiple large-scale pork processing facilities across the Midwest, including major plants in Iowa, Minnesota, and Indiana. Combined, these facilities have the capacity to process approximately 20 million hogs annually.

Each plant operates high-speed automated slaughter systems capable of processing up to 20,000 head per day, followed by fabrication lines that break carcasses into primals, sub-primals, and case-ready retail products.

Hog procurement is coordinated through electronic marketing platforms that connect regional contract finishing operations and independent producers to plant demand schedules. This digital procurement system allows for steady supply flow and scheduling efficiency across multiple facilities.

Processing plants incorporate comprehensive food safety systems, including pathogen intervention technologies, rapid chilling processes, and integrated cold-chain management. USDA inspection is embedded throughout the harvest and fabrication stages to ensure regulatory compliance and product integrity. Finished pork products — from bulk primals to retail-ready packaged cuts — are distributed through coordinated logistics networks serving domestic and export markets.
