Harvest Continues Despite Weather Delays

Winter wheat harvest continues in Manitoba, and it looks like some of the spring-seeded crops aren't far away from harvest, either.

According to the weekly crop report, swathing or pre-harvest applications in the earliest-seeded spring cereal and canola crops have started. Manitoba Agriculture cereal specialist Pam de Rocquigny says some of the spring-seeded crops actually started coming off the field last week.

"There were some fields of spring wheat, some barley, some oats... so harvest has actually started there, I think there's just been a few early-seeded acres that have been taken off. We haven't heard any reports of yield or quality, so it's just really a small number of fields that have been harvested at this point," she says.
