Influenza Activity Is Elevated Nationwide

Seasonal influenza activity remains elevated across the U.S. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Kansas is currently in the 'high' category of flu activity, and elevated activity is expected to continue for several more weeks. On college campuses, flu viruses are known to spread
quickly due to the time spent in close quarters, such as student housing, classrooms and social activities.

The best way to protect yourself, your friends and your family is to get a flu vaccine. You can also take everyday actions to stop the spread of germs.

Try to avoid close contact with sick people, and if you become sick, limit your contact with others. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and wash your hands often.

If you do get sick with the flu, prescription flu antiviral drugs can be used to treat flu illness. Antiviral drugs can help mitigate the severity of an illness and reduce its duration. They may also prevent serious flu complications.
