National Indigenous Peoples Day

Did you know that June 21st is National Indigenous Peoples Day in Canada?

National Indigenous Peoples Day, which falls in the middle of June (National Indigenous History Month), is a great opportunity to celebrate Indigenous cultures and resilience, and continue our own personal education. The Ontario Farmland Trust resides on the ancestral homelands of the Anishinaabek Peoples, specifically the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, and we have a duty to learn about the history of the land and the Indigenous Peoples who have stewarded it since time immemorial. As an organization directly connected to the land, we are committed to continued learning and growth in this area.

We hope that you will take a look at some of the resources we have gathered below, and that you will continue your own personal education with us, well past National Indigenous Peoples Day.
