New Projects Funded for LTAR Through Agricultural Climate Resilience Program

The KBS LTAR will be used by three of the four recent research proposals funded by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD). We look forward to working with these research teams. The research teams are highlighted below, and you can read MDARD’s announcement here

  • Dr. Bruno Basso, a member of the KBS LTAR Scientific Steering Committee, will develop a model to equip farmers with data and predictions to inform management practices. Data from the KBS LTAR and KBS LTER will contribute to these models.
  • Dr. Jiquan Chen will be using KBS LTAR energy, carbon, water and nitrogen cycling data from various measurements and instrumentation (including Eddy Covariance Towers) to provide high-quality information to farmers and land managers to formulate solutions-oriented strategies to increase resiliency
  • Dr. Subhasis Giri, will use KBS LTAR data to develop tools to lesson soil carbon loss and nutrient run-off, specifically focusing on measurements of erosion and nitrogen leaching.
