Royal Winter Fair: Sale of Stars November 10, 2011.


The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair is proud to announce that Blondin Int'l Inc. and Brian Craswell Auctions Limited will be managing the 2011 Sale of Stars on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. in the Scotiabank Ring of Excellence at Direct Energy Centre, Exhibition Place, Toronto,Ontario, Canada.

Blondin Int'l Inc. and Brian Craswell Auctions Ltd. is a partnership between two highly respected members of the cattle industry who have great experience managing the sales of Canada's elite bovine genetics.

The Royal's goal is to provide a marketing venue for Canadian agriculture producers to showcase Canadian products and livestock genetics to an international and domestic audience. Each year, the Sale of Stars attracts buyers from across the world including Brazil, Spain, France and the United States. In 2010 the Sale of Stars was the top averaging dairy sale in North America in which each lot consisted of only one animal.

"Under the management of Blondin Int'l Inc. and Brian Craswell Auctions Ltd., this year's Sale of Stars will preserve and maintain the sale's reputation as the place to be to see the 'best of the best'. The Royal management looks forward to working with Simon and Brian and their team as we continue to host this world-renowned sale."

Brian Craswell, owner of Crasdale Farms, PEI, started his auctioneering company in 1988. He has auctioneered for many sales across Canada and the United States. Brian, with his wife Amber, manages several sales annually across Canada. Brian is no stranger to the Sale of Stars as he has been participating as an auctioneer since 2005.

Simon Lalande, owner of Ferme Blondin, has had many achievements in the show ring. In 2010 Ferme Blondin won the preimer breeder banner six times in shows across Canada and the United States. Blondin also had the Intermediate Champion at the Royal in 2010 with Rockymountain Talent Licorice, who was also Grand Champion at the New York Spring Show and the Quebec Spring Show this year. In 2010 Blondin had 8 All-Canadian, 6 All-American and 13 All-Quebec nominations. Simon is the breeder of the 2010 Royal Supreme Champion, World Dairy Expo Red and White Grand Champion, All-Canadian and All- American Red and White cow Blondin Redman Seisme, owned by Morsan Farms. Simon has managed two Blondin sales at the farm and hosted the International Intrigue Sale this summer that averaged around $26,000 on 129 lots sold. Simon managed the Sale of Stars in 2009 and 2010 as part of the GLJ Inc. management group and looks forward to continuing this successful sale with the Royal.

Meet the guest: Dr. Kwangwook Kim / kwangwook-kim is an Assistant Professor at Michigan State University, specializing in swine nutrition and feed additives under disease challenge models. He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in Animal Sciences from the University of California, Davis, where he focused on intestinal health and metabolic responses in pigs. His research evaluates alternatives to antibiotics, targeting gut health and performance in nursery pigs.
