Soybean Harvest Continues

Will farmers have enough time to finish this year's soybean harvest?

We posed that question to Daryl Domitruk with Manitoba Pulse and Soybean Growers.

"I think we're looking for most of the soybeans to come off," he said. "There will be parts of the field, lower lying parts, that may not be accessible by the equipment. But by in large, especially if things firm up due to the surface of the ground being frozen, I think it's very possible that we could have the vast majority of crops come off. We're certainly hoping so because as you move west in the province with the harvest, we're seeing yields that are quite reasonable."

Domitruk says the colder temperatures are helping farmers gain access to the fields.
