State Farmers Market hosts Blueberry Day Thursday

WHAT:  
The State Farmers Market will celebrate North Carolina blueberry season with its annual Blueberry Day. There will be free blueberry dessert samples, as well as fresh N.C. blueberries for purchase from market vendors.

Blueberry Day is sponsored by the N.C. Blueberry Council, the State Farmers Market Restaurant, the State Farmers Market and the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

WHEN:   Thursday, June 19
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

WHERE: 
Event area located between the N.C. Seafood Restaurant and the garden section of the Farmers Building.

North Carolina is the seventh-largest producer of blueberries in the nation. In 2012, farmers in the state grew 41 million pounds of the fruit.
