Stock Growers Beef Drive Helps Saskatchewan Food Banks

A key campaign for the Saskatchewan Stock Growers and Food Banks around the Province is the Third Annual Beef Drive.

Producers donate cull animals for processing with the meat then donated to Food Banks of Saskatchewan.

President Bill Huber says this year Cargill has stepped in to help with matching private donations dollar for dollar up to $5000 to help cover processing costs.

“We certainly would appreciate some cash donations to because we do have to pay for the processing. So, if you haven’t got an animal that you feel that you want to market certainly donate some cash, anything over $10 there’s a receipt issued for tax purposes.”

The Saskatchewan Stock Growers has set a goal of collecting 10,000 pounds of beef donations this year.
