Understanding the Economics of Putting Beef Embryos in Dairy Cows

The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Dairy Team monthly webinar series continues on Wednesday, Nov. 17 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. During the webinar, John Metzger will summarize the costs and keys to implementing a successful embryo transfer program and give producers the tools they need to determine if this technology might benefit their operation.

Metzger grew up on a dairy, beef, and crop farm near Lester, Iowa. He completed a bachelor’s degree in Dairy Science from Iowa State University and a master’s degree in Animal Science & Dairy Cattle Breeding from the University of Minnesota. Prior to working for Trans Ova Genetics, he was employed by Northern Ohio Breeders Association in Tiffin, Ohio and Riverview Dairy in Morris, Minnesota. He has been a team member at Trans Ova Genetics for 21 years and is currently responsible for developing embryo products for dairy and beef producers.

Producers, dairy consultants, and industry reps are encouraged to attend the webinar. There is no fee for the program and preregistration is not needed.
