5 Trade Agreements Affecting Canadian Ag

Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement

Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement

The Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement (CUFTA) took effect on Aug. 1, 2017.

The trade deal mandates that Ukraine lift tariffs, which were as high as 30 per cent, on multiple Canadian ag products within seven years.

Beef, pork, and grain producers will receive the duty-free access to the Ukrainian market, as will animal feed and processed food products.

For example, Ukraine will increase its annual tariff-free quota rate for frozen pork and other pork products from 10,000 tonnes to 20,000 tonnes over seven years.
