Farms.com previewed the Jura Ranch sale in February

A ranch roughly the size of Prince George, B.C., sold in that province for more than $5 million.

The Jura Ranch in the Similkameen Valley, which Farms.com previewed the sale of in February, sold for a final price of $5.265 million on May 12, CLHbid.com says.

For that price, which represents about a 23 per cent increase from the $4.29 million starting bid, the buyer receives access to 83,698 total acres.

“The ranch offers rich soil that is high in organic matter, abundant water, miles of fencing and cross-fencing, an impressive ranch headquarters, and an incredible view of the Three Brothers Mountain,” the listing says, adding the soil is easily workable and provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for plant growth.”

The auction also included a 2,500 square foot home.

It’s unknown who bought the property.

But the sale has spurred some discussion on social media.

Veronica Arndt-Gudbranson, for example, posted on the Princeton BC & Area Issues Facebook page asking if anyone knows the buyer’s identity.

What is known is the successful buyer purchased the ranch from Rob and Kelly Lamoureux.

They started their farming career in Alberta before moving to Australia where they ranched for 30 years. They moved back to Canada in 2018 using their knowledge of ranching down under to support the ranch and their Jura Grassfed beef and lamb business.
