CWB announces hockey pool for farmers

Stalled seeding season prompts CWB to launch hockey pool

By , Farms.com

The Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) has launched a new pool, but not for grains. This one involves the beloved Canadian game of hockey. The CWB recently announced that they would be adding a playoff hockey pool to its pool offerings.

The CWB says that it hopes the new pool will add a flare of fun, to the serious business of operating price pools for grains. Participating farmers will get the chance to win prizes and bragging rights by predicting the outcome of the hockey playoffs, but perhaps the best part is - this pool is free of charge. Prize offerings include: $500, $250 and $100 for first, second and third place.

In a press release, CWB says that the added pool coincides with the later than usual seeding season for prairie farmers. More information about the new pool can be found on the CWB website at: www.cwb.ca/hockeypool. The deadline to sign-up is Monday, May 6 at 6:00p.m. (CST).
