Joe Dales Leaves Farms.com to Pursue New Opportunities

Joe Dales has been a dedicated member of the team for two decades

After 20 years on the team building one of the enduring information technology-based companies in the agri-food sector worldwide, Joe Dales is leaving his position as Executive Vice-President at Farms.com.

As one of the original founders of Farms.com, Dales worked tirelessly to take a fledgling idea and build a compelling value proposition that supported the start and continued growth of Farms.com.

While the organization was founded before the dot com boom, Farms.com beat the dot com bust and is today a multi-divisional organization with over 100 employees in 6 countries and on four continents.

“Joe is an experienced relationship builder, bringing producers and agri-business together,” said Farms.com President & CEO and co-founder Graham Dyer.  “His excellent relationship skills were instrumental in building and growing Farms.com.  Farms.com would not be what it is today, without him.”

With a keen interest in the internet for the agriculture sector, Dales specialized in online agriculture trends, communications, and strategic leadership. With a zest for entrepreneurship, he has started and invested in more than seven companies within the agriculture and food sector.  He is leaving Farms.com so that he can continue pursuing some of these entrepreneurial ideas with a dedicated focus.

“New opportunities on the horizon beckon me,” Mr. Dales said in his notice to the company’s board of directors, “and I know Farms.com is in a solid growth mode, with a great team of people.  I love this company and my service to Farms is not ending with this transition. I will continue to serve Farms.com as a board member,” Dales said.

“We are grateful for the dedicated service Joe has offered this company over the past two decades,” said Dyer. “Joe’s continued involvement on the Board of Directors will ensure his input in strategic decisions and further ensure a smooth transition. His presence will continue to be felt.”

Joe Dales comes from a business and marketing background with over 25 years of experience serving in various capacities, including agri-marketing and management in the agriculture industry. He worked for various leading multinational agri-business in North America, including Pfizer, Syngenta Seeds, and Cyanamid Crop Protection, before founding Farms.com.  Dales has played a pivotal role in launching several biotechnology innovations including Herbicide Tolerant Canola.

Video: Time To Build An Ark: Sheltering Our Flock From Adverse Weather Conditions!

Relentless spring rains are drenching our sheep farm! Despite the downpour, our sheep are fortunate to have a cozy and dry shelter in our barns. Our barns are equipped with curtains on all sides, allowing us to adjust the amount of natural light and fresh air that enters. Whether it's opening them wide to create an outdoor-like environment or shutting them tight to keep the sheep snug and content, our barns provide the perfect refuge from the harsh weather conditions outside.

While we appreciate the nourishing rain that will eventually result in lush pastures and abundant hay during the summer, we are grateful that our sheep are not exposed to the elements and remain healthy. Join us as we lay fresh bedding in every barn, ensuring our sheep's comfort and well-being. Witness the joy of our lambs frolicking in the straw, a true testament to their happiness.

Despite our usual practice of avoiding shipping sheep during adverse weather, today we had to transport a few breeding ewes and a ram to a customer with an inflexible schedule. Discover the breeding stock chosen by the customer and witness how we carefully load them for transport.

Rain or shine, the work on a sheep farm never stops. However, having a sheltered space makes these challenging days a little more bearable. Join us on our vlog as we navigate through the rainy season, providing the best care for our flock. Welcome to Ewetopia Farms, where we document our daily sheep farming activities on our vlog.
